The specific product called Zeo-light (if that is what you mean) is a mixture of zeolites (media that have pores small enough for certain ions to bind) that Fauna Marin claims ". This Zeolite provides nitrate- and ammonium-reducing bacteria an ideal environment."
I'm not convinced that zeolites are anything particularly special as a bacterial substrate to grow on, but I also do not see anything wrong with it for that purpose. I believe that at least some of the zeovit ideas (perhaps no longer claimed, but they were when the zeolites first came out) that ammonia binding is useful in driving ammonia to the bacteria is, IMO, misguided and incorrect.
FWIW, there are other media (e.g., Marinepure Cermedia) that make similar claims about being good substrates for bacteria colonization and denitrification. Even GAC is probably good for simple colonization (I've seen that in my system). Is a zeolite better? Maybe, but I'm skeptical since that isn't how zeolites are used by industry. I've not seen evidence one way or the other, however.![]()
I did mean the whole Zeovit system, yes. Were you asking about the whole zeovit system, or the Zeo-light specifically?
Are your nutrients currently elevated?

I did mean the whole Zeovit system, yes.
And the thing about zeovit that is really nice, is that you don't "have to" run the system to use their products as far as supplements, additives, etc.. And still obtain some pretty interesting growth and color..
There are tons of people like yourself(and me actually), that have low to no nutrient systems.. And the additives still work well, along as you have that ulns state.. You just have to be more careful with your reading on them, and you are not "having" to use the original 4 bottles, though, some do come in handy..
I suggest checking out the zeovit site, downloading and reading the manual, going on their forum(what your asking isn't uncommon at all) and asking questions.. They are most helpful..
Ones that fit within your tank parameters.. This is something, at least I, as stated above, you read and research.. Then, make a decision based off that..So what additives to your recommend?
