I noticed these red things on an Astraea shell, they poke out a little and retract when I go near.

Can anyone tell me what they are?

Look like vermited snails. Not bad in small numbers, but can reach plague proportions. Better to remove now than wait.

Ah okay. Thanks. How should I remove? Just scrape them off with a knife?

yep anything hard and basically smash them off.
