Except for the Mag is there any problems with these numbers. I am so confused

about Nitrates I started bio-pellets about 3 weeks ago then I added an algae reactor

Nitrates have continued to run in that range. Getting some cyan not really a problem.

Just dosing Kalk and about 20 ml calcium a day to keep calcium up. Just went back

to MH and T5 from LEDs.

Went through a bout of STN over a few weeks a while back. Seemed liked as a soon as

frag was dead. A new frag would start. Lost SIX, but that has stopped. Well, pretty much

stopped when I switched lighting.

Parameters:

PH: 8.26 Pinpoint

Alk: 8.8 DKH

Cal: 400 Salifert

Nitrate: 5 Salifert

Phosphate: 0.0 Hanna Checker (ran twice)

Mag: 1550 Salifert

Your pramameters look good on the surface. How old is the tank? How often do you dose alkalinity to maintain it? Do you have any swings in alk?

In my system I don't try to drive down my nitrates, unless they get above 20ppm. Trying for 0 nitrates will stave your corals. 5-10ppm is a place to start. As long as your N03 is above P04, you should have no pest algae issues.

I keep my tank at 10-20ppm N03, P04 at trace.

Also do you light acclimate your corals? Do you dip them prior to placing in the DT?

I'm guessing your tank is fairly new, meaning 3 months or so... Flipper made some good points. Not sure what kind of LED you used but they will bleach corals if they are not acclimated properly to them. If your water parameters are not stable, alk specifically, acros will tend to be the first to show signs.

Tank been up six months. 90gal with 150gal sump. There was an article posted recently posted "The OCD LED'er". Well, that is me. Literally, I am OCD. Medicated and all. Every day I would look at the tank and turn light knobs because it "LOOKED" different. LOL

Alk maintained through Kalk ATO. Very little algae. I always keep corals at bottom move up slowly, Cannot turn knobs on MH/T5.

So, there in lies the issue with LEDs. Tank is still young but your numbers look good. Just try to keep them stable and you should be okay.
