Can the human biome damage reefs?

It seems like where humans live near coral, the coral get covered with algae and red slime.

So, does sticking your hand in your tank have an impact?

Me and @saltyfilmfolks call that the hands in tank syndrome...lol but yes any perfume lotion residual soap will have a negative effect on your reef .
