Can this be anything other than Aptasia?

Hi guys,

I have a 5 month old 40 breeder here at the office. Set up with dead rock and live sand. Only 2 clowns, 1 hippo tang, and 1 lawnmower blenny, all very small.
Have only fed Hikari Marine @ and Seaweed Extreme dry pellets. No snails or shrimps.

How could aptasia possibly be in this tank? Or could this be something else?

I know the pic is low quality, I don't have a filter lens here at work.

thats an aiptasia. Live sand had a cell of it somewhere.

Ya it doesn't seem like you would have aptasia but it sure looks like it.

when you added fish, were there any aptasia in any system they were in, and any drops of water transfer with the fish without added QT?

Its a possibility. I didn't notice any in the tanks at the LFS. The clowns have been in the take about 4 months, the other two fish about 3 months.

I would say definitely aiptasia. When threatened they spit out little babies that you can't see with the naked eye a lot of them that's how they explode all over your tank. Any water that came with the fish that could have gotten to your tank could have had a single cell or two of them in the water

Thanks everyone. Ill bring some F-Aptasia in tommorow and nuke it. LFS Peppermint shrimp are a couple hours away from here. I'll pick up a few next time I'm there.

I've been through 10 peppermint shrimp, only two ate aptasia (but only babies). I X'ed it, I **** it. 2nd try on a file fish, 1st fail, 2nd OK (BTY proven and in a frag tank for months at LFS). my next step is nudies. without golden bikinis, and let them eat the want to be sarlacc.
