I believe this pump was meant to be with my ADA canister filter... It's new, can it serve a purpose in salt water?

That is a booster pump. It's primary use would be to raise the inlet pressure to a RODI filter. Makes them run more efficient. They tend to be very low flow.

That looks like a pressure booster, made to increase the pressure to a RODI filter.

O it goes with my RO unit (I have one contractor yet to install). Thank you!

Great booster pump for improved RODI water production but not rated for continuous duty.Only intended to boost water pressure under low volume.

I'm really surprised he didn't give one to me for continues duty. I'm assuming booster means assistant. Is there one you'd recommend?

The one you have would work fine as long as the hose diameter matches with the pump. There is a youtube video by BRS that shows you how to connect these pumps to your RO unit. My work really doesn't like people to go to Youtube or I would have linked you to the video.

You're amazing! A video. I just getting ready customer service for install paperwork. My contractor asked for it. A video is better.

My RODI above. I guess he didn't give me the pump. Recommendation?
It's hooked into your existing water supply, usually near your washer/dryer or underneath the kitchen sink, so no pump is needed as it works off of your water pressure of your home. A booster pump is only needed if your existing water pressure is so low that your RODI filters to work as efficiently as they should. If your home water pressure is around 70-75 psi, you wont need that booster pump.

@XNavyDiver makes a valid point. If you are already above 70 psi, you don't even need that pump. I think (I could be wrong, so please check) BRS says 80psi would be great.
