I have been given 2 torch heads.
Can the stalk be buried in sand or should I glue it to some LR?
This is how I placed it :

Thanks.

I would glue it to a 3 in frag plate and bury the frag plate to give it some support. After that it would be fine.

No idea where to get plates that large so I might need to improvise - might glue it to a saucer :)

Thank you all.

I ordered them on ebay, don't quote me on this but I believe it was like 10 dollars for a 10 pack. Actually I just checked, they are 15.99 for a 20 pack, don't think you need that many, may try a LFS.

I live in Canada and most of the items on eBay are shipped from States so that adds $20 in shipping.

My LFS told me one time to get hermit crab shells online when I got crabs from them so there's that.

As long as it has support you will be fine, just remember when it extends its tentacles it will cause drag and push over the torch

Should be fine in the sand as long as nothing knocks it over.

yeah that's what happened to my black torch grow to 5 heads in a bout 15 months or so then got knocked over somehow i did not notice and lost 3 heads...
my vote is a piece of rock. may a little torch island :D

If glued to a solid base in the sand wouldn't it become its own island?
I have no clue about mechanics of torch grow but I would prefer to have at front of the tank with as much stalk under the sand as possible.
