Can using a lower volt power supply fry a light?

For whatever reason my kessil a360we light stopped working. Can’t figure out the reason why. Only thing I can think of is I checked the power supplies on all 3 I have and one is different. One is reading output is 12V and other 2 are both reading 19V is the output. Can this be a reason for why the light stopped working? This sucks cause it’s a $350 light that just stopped working out of no where
 
Good question! no idea what dry a light means though ‍♂️

12V may not be enough to drive your light of type led.

It was working for a few hrs then I came home and it stopped working. I had it under 19v and I just set up an mp40 that I didn’t have working that I got fixed through warranty.

the mp40 was in power back up or something I asked the company. So I switched power supplies with one of my lights and next thing u know the light stops working.
 
running dc components at too low a voltage can ironically burn them out.
has to do with ohms law

the device is trying to draw the same wattage so if the volts go down it has to draw more current wich the circuts may not be able to handle if the voltage goes to low.

Man that’s what I figured. I had no idea I was using the wrong power supply till now. Very annoying now I gotta buy a new light

devices (load) plugged into a power supply will try draw the same wattage no matter what! if the power supply voltage decreases it has to output more current if it is able to. you risk burning out either the power supply (source) if it is unable to supply the current. or burning out the device (load) if its circuits cant handle the current.
the kessil a360we is a 90 watt light it will try to draw 90 watts on the 19 volt power supply it will draw 4.73 amps
on the 12 V power supply it was trying to draw 7.5 amps.

I have 2 lights I managed to destroy somehow cause I didn’t realize the power supply was bad. Have both open nothing looks fried on the mother board. Any idea if it’s even salvageable?
 
does anything smell burnt? (dumb question but did you try the right power supply?)

Nothing smells or looks bad. Only thing I can see not sure if this is normal is this. The wires on the bottom have some coat over it but it’s half gone. It’s like this on both non working lights though. I went to my parents house to see if my dad can help fix but he’s not home. I didn’t bring a working power supply. Might have to go drive back home and get one to test it

Did you try swapping power supplies between them and seeing if the problem followed the lower voltage power supply?

Sorry but wattage will decrease with voltage and thus current. The led lights will burn at half wattage and a much lower current. If you you were correct guys who fly model aeroplanes would burn their components as battery voltage decreases, but they do not, voltage, prop speed and current all decrease.
 
About the only thing you could do is go in with a meter and check for shorts. Finding a replacement circuit board piece may be challenging though.

This is because the source ((battery) a limited power source) voltage and current decrease at the same time, a power supply is plugged into the wall unlimited power source. If the power supply is rated for it it will put out the current to supply the watts being drawn from it.
 
I'm ok with thinking this way it's a very common misconception/wives tale. A lot of people think believe it, but many people are wrong about a lot of things.
