can watching your tank cause eye damage?

I was just watching the news and saw a segment on blue light from cell phones causing possible degenerative eye disease and retina damage.that got me thinking about our reef tanks doing the same.with all the blue emitted from our high powered led's could this be a possibility?if it was I think half our members would be blind by now. maybe we have a resident opthalmologist who could chime in.

Not sure about eye damage but other bodily damage may occur when my wife gets upset because I stare at the tank more than her. Lil.

No, that is complete nonsense. I have some keratoconus and post lasik ectasia from my cornea being thinned out. I used to fly military helicopters full time and had vision tests my whole life since i was in college.
Your eye is incredibly bad butt most conditions are genetic.

I've had lasik and corneal cross linking surgeries. Cross Linking strengthens your cornea where they literally shine UV light in your eyeball after adding riboflavin to cross stich the cornea layer. They held my eye lids open and gave me valium and numbing drops for my eyeball. It did not make my vision worse.

My buddy's eye-doctor asked him what kind of lights he worked around when he went in for a prescription. He cold tell.

Maybe if you have your radions turned way up and you shine them straight in your eye for hours a day.

Double ended metal halides used without glass shields emit UV-C. This can do very, very serious damage to your eyes. Never use them without the glass.

Only if you're looking at your tank with a webcam focused on the tank, and you're in the bedroom watching it on your iPhone.

For old people it is common with yellowing in the vitreous in the eye. The reason for that should be exposure to light fom blue to UV outdoors.

I hear they only do this in Europe as it is not approved here in us?
