Can white spots on fish be calcium

So I thought my hippo, which I've had for 6 months or so was suffering from Ich. It had 2 white spots that I never saw before appear the other day. I also have white dots appearing on my glass. Today I didn't see any dots on my hippo. So could it just be excess calcium or does she have ich and was just stressed that day?

White dots on the glass are usually just pods or sometimes baby snails.

White dots on your fish could be ich/velvet (parasitic diseases) or possibly just sand stuck to the fish's mucous coat. If it dangles off or is gone within a few hours, probably just sand. If it appears to be under the fish's skin or remains in the same spot for days, then it's probably a parasite.

Calcium doesn't usually precipitate on an actual fish. I agree, if it's there for only a day or less then it's probably sand. A couple days... it could be ich or velvet. If it comes back and you see it there for several days again (wont be the exact same spot) then you may want to consider ich

Im going to be vigilant in checking my tangs over the next few days and upcoming weeks for any spots. If I see them again I will be sure to treat in a hospital tank.
