Can wrong lighting kill corals?

I don't mean have like WAY too much or WAY too little intensity. But if lighting is a little off, can that actually kill the coral or will they just not be happy and not fully open.
 
Yes and no, to little most corals will do fine unless it is clearly not enough but you can usually tell that either by extra stretching for light. The no part would be a little to much as usually they will close up or burn up, even if it is slightly just barely to much light. A little less is better then a little more.
