Wondering if you can bayer dip small pieces of liverock, Have some from an unknown system and would like to mount some corals on it and use it in my main tank.

I had a great looking system until made the mistake of adding a rock from another system. (a system belonging to someone I trust)
I have been battling problems ever since.... A single rock has costed me close to $700 and countless hours. Don't do it.

No! No! No!

You can not dip rock. The reason is that it absorbs the dip and then slowly releases it back into your DT.

If you are that worried either soak it in bleach and then ro then let it completely dry or just ro.
If it's just a small piece though you should be able to visually inspect it. There was a time where people would trade small pieces of rocks and cups of sand to increase biodiversity.

Thanks for the info, I totally get why not to, but don't you run the same risk as the plugs ceramic/cement absorbing the dip as you would small pieces of live rock?
