Can you frag a Rusty Gorgonian???

I've never had a rusty gorgonian but they should mostly be the same. I've done purple, green and yellow before the same way. Pretty easy to frag, just cut off where you want to frag then scrape off the outer layer of the frag on the bottom about 1/4" to1/2" so you get to the hard skeleton-type part in the middle of the gorgonian. Then super glue or putty it into a hole on a rock. You just don't want to cover up much of the "skin" with putty or glue because it will rot away after it dies and the frag will come lose. Hope that makes sense, lmk if it doesn't haha.

I've never had a problem. Of course you want them in water as much as possible, you can even clip them under water if you want. What I do is get some tank water in a large bowl or whatever to hold them, pull them out of the tank, into the bucket. Then onto the cutting surface, cut, strip the outer layer, back in the bucket, then prep the frag mount with glue or whatever. Then the frag goes on the mount and back into the bucket, then into the tank. When they are in the tank they are usually open within a half-hour like nothing happened.

I’ve done mine before. Just make sure you strip the skin off the skeleton before you glue it. I used a wire stripper. Superglue as usual.
