Hi ,
First I wanted to say thank you for running an amazing all-encompassing website for reef aquariums. I finally had the light bulb moment that most of the research I've been doing for the last 3 months has led to articles and forum threads posted on Reef2Reef.

I have a newb question. I have a refugium that is working really well, growing tons of cheato. I was wondering if I can grow other things like the seaweed I feed to my fish? can you use other maco algae to soak up the excess nitrates and then feed them to fish?

sorry if this has already been asked the forums are rather large :)

Well hello and welcome to R2R!

Yes you can grow other macros to feed your fish.

Just be sure it’s not something that can take hold and over grow in your display!

Thank you for the quick answer, something new for me to research :)

if I get a tang do I need to worry about anything green overgrowing my tank? I thought they ate any algae they find.

Ulva, got it. Thank you. I'll have to find a local or Canadian source for it I don't think Algaebarn will ship up here. Light is not a problem I converted from freshwater so my sump has a Kessil 360 Amazon sun over it as I didn't need it on the DT any more I had to turn the light way down for the chaeto.
