I am wondering if there would be any issues with installing the unit upside down so the cords are on the top?

It should be a sealed battery, I don't see any reason why not.

EcoTech Marine Battery Backup Specifications:
  • Corrosion-resistant powder-coated white aluminum housing.
  • 18 Amp-Hour 12-volt sealed battery.
  • 8 ft. cables
  • Dimensions: 9" x 7" x 3.25" (LxWxH)

Pics show it is a sealed battery and Ecotech's manual doesn't specify any orientation requirements. Call them tomorrow and you should be able to get a quick answer :)

Ecotech confirms on another forum that the battery is sealed and can be mounted in any orientation :)

Lol!!! As long as it's for informational purposes it's ok :D ;Hilarious

I have one of mine mounted with the plugs facing up, no problems. I don’t have mine over the tank so even if the battery did rupture, nothing would get into the water. I do worry a little about water drips getting into the sockets if they are facing up.

How many Ecotech devices you can connect to back up battery? How long it will last?

I came to this thread to see if someone posted the power will leak out. Disappointed!

How about for Vortech M2 pump? How long it will last?
Not sure. When it goes out it reduces the output on the pump or whatever is connected to it. BRS did a video using MP10s and one lasted 76 hours on the battery backup.
