Hi,
I like to play around with my sump, improve things (at least trying) and make my tank a better environment for my corals and fish.

Right now we have a bubble magus curve 5 as a skimmer, a seapora media reactor which runs bio pellets. A bunch of live rock and around 3-4 cartons of media filter balls plus chaeto.
One media cup holds chemi pure

For more flow I put two small power heads inside

Is that okay like this or somebody has more improvement plans/changes?

Thank you upfront guys

I love it! Well done. If nutrients become to low you can always remove some marinepure balls.

Thank you!

We’re thinking about to adding a uv sterilizer..if possible an in-line one if there have something like this!?

Maybe raise the bottom of the rack where the manipure spheres are and put the power head under it.

I dont see a need for a uv, your putting all those bio media in to increase bacterial filtration as well as the bio pellets to add a carbon source for them. By using a uv you will be sterilizing them and be counter productive.

I haven’t read much about it yet, just seen all different types of filtration equipment and thought it might be good.

Yea there's lots of different types of filtration, mechaical, biological. uv is good on systems where your not carbon dosing. I use vodka as a carbon source. (Same concept as you using bio plastics) to increase the bacterial .population to reduce nitrates and phosphates and have a balanced system. Uv which definitly clears water, and kills organisms in the water column, will reduce that bacterial poplualtion as well (atleast from what I've been taught over the years) if you want clear water run some carbon with what your doing and your good(think you said your running chemiclean) I think your good. Just sit back and let it run... less is more. Let it run for a few months. You wont see anything, good or bad right away.
Your on the right track. Keep up the good work

You seem to be running lots of bio pellets, be careful you can strip your tank, I though I was doing great until I saw my Purple tang he looked like a punk rocker with slashes across his head from Healle sorry for the spelling.

We took out the chemi pure last night. Our scopa tang has hlle. We are trying to get rid of it for a couple weeks (all the other fish are fine).
We have him for around 3 weeks now and thought it’s maybe from stress etc...I guess it’s from something else like the chemi pure..
Will see if it’s getting better.

Do you feed nori? Give that guy some nori soaked in vitamins
We try to feed him nori but he won’t touch it at all. The place we got him from was only feeding flakes. We did our own food with shrimps, fish, vitamins and nori mixed in. But I’m not sure how we can get him to eat the nori :(

We only used half of the recommended dosage for the biopellets because we did read horror story’s about them online when using to much. So we were scared and only used half :D

First we thought it’s because our tank didn’t had much stock when we got him (1 cleaner shrimp, 2 clowns) but now we added a hippo tang and a leopard wrasse to give him more company.
So will see how it turns out with removing the chemi pure and give him more buddy’s :)

If you get some herbivore food, LRS makes a great one. My fish go nuts for it. also I hang a sheet of nori in my tank on a clip 2- 3 times a week. At first my fish didn't touch it. and one of my wrasses actually liked it. which got the other fish interested. Now they go nuts for it.
