Thinking about running my fuge with no sand just rock n chetoa. Can this be done? I use to run deep sand bed in the past but didn't want that nutrient sink. Any thoughts? Thanks

I may do this when I change out my sump. My only worry is to lose all the filter feeding critters that live in the sand. Mine right now is just a mass of those filter feeding tube worms mixed in with spaghetti worms. I suppose they may not actually pull their own weight thought.

I should have mentioned that I will be having sand in the DT around 1-2 inches. So in your point hopefully will still achieve upstairs.

I'm sure it would be fine either way. If you get cheato doing well it's going to work better than anything else can. There is a great method. I haven't been able to achieve it.
