My dad is visiting an area where Someone wants a zoa from me will security allow it & would it be safe for the zoa.

Have him put it in his checked baggage and it will be fine(and security is fine with it also).

I do it all the time. Carried 3 frags and a colony back yesterday in fact. Two ways to do it. First with just a wet towell wrapped around the frag and then that I side a small plastic baggie. Put in carryon. 2nd is what I did last time and kept coral in the little ziplocs. I then put these in. A tiny Styrofoam cooler and placed in carryon. I removed it for the x-ray and they passed right through. No issues. Done this in boston and San antonio.

I've done it before as well, no problems, both carry on and in my luggage. In my carry-on I went to Walmart and got a few of those plastic containers right next to the vending machines, the ones for the toys, gave the toy to my nieces and used the plastic containers for the frags, they are about 2oz :).
