I thought about putting this in the ID thread, but I know the names. I just wanted to see what others thought, because these 3 have very similar growth and color. One was purchased awhile ago from roksintst as Ultimates Watermelon Milli and has struggle for the longest time, but is recovering. The Tierra Del Fuego was purchased from a local reefer who bought it from Sexy Coral, and the last was also purchased from a local reefer as Red Planet. Maybe their differences will be more noticeable as they get bigger, but at times, I can't tell the difference. Can you? Which photo is which coral?

I can't really tell, but I want to guess. 1. Tierra del Fuego 2. Ultimates Watermelon and 3. Red Planet ?

Yo goody it's fresh2120...from SDR.

I can't tell which ones which but I will take a frag of which ever one u will frag me.

Lol:smile:

Hey Adrian, good to see you on here. School is almost out, so I'll have plenty of time to come check out your tank. Hope all is well.

Well, not many wanted to play, and nobody who did play got them all correct.
1-Red Planet
2-Tierra Del Fuego
3-Ultimates Watermelon

The joke is on all of us... they are all the SAME just slight morphs with a new hot name to sell to each successive generation of reefers. Just kidding... sort of.

My guess is
1 red planet
2 Tierra del fuego (positive on this)
3 watermelon

Who introduced the TDF? Watermelon and Red Planet at least date back a while, but the TDF seems to have been all hype driven. Sadly some of us foolishly paid too much for TDF before it was realized that all three are basically the same coral.

None of those are the real tdf that Dan from wet thumbs imported back a few years. That green thing there selling as btdf- is a lie real tdf will have a whiteish base violet. Mid pink tips top. I have the real tdf from the sorce it came from. The only person I've seen sell the real tdf lately is Joey who also got the real dna

That's why I asked goody about his lighting. Maybe the lighting is making the TDF look like that or it's not a TDF.

The TDF I have looks nothing like a Red Planet. The coralite structure is totally different as well as the colors as you have mentioned.

My frag mid level under T5s.......it's small under 3/4 but you can see the similarities. From the front is looks light green, blue growth edge and pinkish tips...polyps red/pink.

Real tdf IV seen under all types of lighting. colors very light to strong but never change to totally different colors. This new green stuff is made up buy Coral retailers as tdf just so they can charge more money for the name. I've seen some jf has sold neon green as tdf but is not the real thing

Like I said, I got the TDF from a local reefer who said he got it from sexy coral as TDF and I totally trust him. As to whether or not sexy coral was selling the true TDF, I don't know, but my piece looks nothing like their picture on the website. I've been told color will turn more violet as it get larger, but from the looks of your frag, that doesn't hold true. I have it under 8x54w t5, about 14" below fixture.

What lighting and placement in tank. I have all three and I think they are getting too much light. But still have great color and polyp extension. Light is the factor.
