I know this is definitely a zoa-newbie question, but can different colonies of zoas harm one another when they come into contact? I just received a shipment of frags and decided to glue several different ones on the same rock. Bad idea? Are palythoa any different in terms of harming one another?

They wont sting each other, but one will eventually over grow the other.

i can agree with this for sure. i bought a rock of fire and ice mixed with some green ones and now the rock is mostly fire and ice. i also have a rock mix with 3 zoa's and 1 kind of polies and seems like the green polyps are going to win there but i am about to change that and frag out all the polies or how ever its spelled.

I zoas on seperate rocks as one will typically overgrow the other. If I get rocks that are already mixed I usually try to split them up right off the bat.

i like that way and have done it to some. guess i am luck that the F&i took over and the greens have been reduced to few. i might have a before and after i'd have to check my photobucket

my camera blows so you have to see past that part.

when i first got them sometime before Jul 27, 2006

as you can see most the green's are gone. i gave a good section of the rock away to my bro and his did the same. the F&I seemed ot have taking over the rock they where on and mixed with those green.

ive never seen any stinging but one morph can and somtimes does overshade others to take over but there is probly a little chemical warfare involved too if i get a mixed rock in i usaly frag each morph away from each other and mount on separate rocks when there a morph im wanting to grow .
