Can Zoas Rise From the Dead?

This is probably a well-known phenomenon but new to me. I recently dropped a small colony of zoas on the floor. It rolled into an obscure spot and I couldn't find it for about four days. When I did find it, it was completely dried out but I decided to put it back in the tank to see what would happen. By the following day, the polyps began to open again. I was shocked! Has anyone else had this experience?

Well I dont think they can "rise from the dead", but i can help explain. Zoas live in shallow areas in the reef where they are used to the tides rising and lowering, often exposing them to the air for hours, and hours at times. So it is a possibility that thhats the kinda thing that happened. Just yours are SUPER hardy and probably super stressed also, but yes hope this explains.

Agreed you probably have a tidal species of zoanthid... pretty crazy man! Hope they do well for you
