Hi All

I bought three new fish:

Purple orchid dotty back
Two common clowns
Canary wrasse

They have all gone into my newly set up QT.

start the prophylactic quarantine process once they have settled.

Woke up and found the wrasse half in the sand dish breathing heavily. No other signs of illness.

The other fish are perfect.

Any suggestions, I’m worried he won’t make it.

Eli

You can do a FW dip but I’m not sure he’ll make it either way. I would start ramping your copper up. Do you have a Hanna checker for copper? Wrasses can be sensitive and cheleted copper would be best. Keep the copper at 1.75ppm ideally. If it’s velvet then a FW dip could help but he looks pretty bad already. How did you acclimate the fish to your QT?

Hi

Thanks for replying.

The tank is fresh set up with Red Sea blue bucket. The ammonia is zero and I also have Seachem alert badge.

The bagged water was at 1.024 and the QT is at 1.025.

I floated the bags for 45 mins and then I added 25ml of tank water to the bagged water every 25 mins over a 3 hour period.

Hope that helps.

Eli

The issue with wrasses is because of their slimecoat they can often be a carrier of many parasites and never show symptoms (I’m dealing with it right now). I would recommend you get your meds up to therapeutic levels and see if he pulls through. I will unfortunately say that with him in that condition it isn’t likely.
