Good evening guys,

Just picked up a small colony of what the guy said were candy apple red zoas. The guy said that he had neglected them for the past few weeks. I added them to my tank last night and when I woke up this morning I noticed that a bunch of them had a long tongue sticking out and my hermit crab were all over them. In the picture where the arrow is pointing it shows a lot of tongue tangled together. Sorry about the picture quality I had to take it with my phone.

Is that normal or should I take them out of the tank?

Thanks for the help.

It's kind of hard to tell from that picture, but if I had to guess I would go with an Aiptasia. (not good)

I already had some aiptasia in my tank and it doesn't look like that. This are red long strings coming out of the center of the polyps.

It doesn't look like terebellid worm. It was something like a tongue coming out from the mouth of the zoas. Just got back from the store and whatever it was its gone

Pg513 I googled zoa expelling zooxanthellae and it looks just like that. Is that bad or normal?

Ok cool thanks. I was starting to get worried because I was reading online that some do that when they are dying.
