I bought a pair for $699.00 three years ago. Well worth it and as another poster here mentioned, the photos dont do them justice. I have them in a lagoon IM with a goby/shrimp, LPS /hammers and palys/shrooms. Theres a photo in this thread that is the best representation of them I have seen. The contrast with red, blue and greens of the the corals is worth it....and hey at least spring for a 20 gal if you're gonna go big!!
P.S. hardy as a triggerfish. they set up their space in the tank and thats it. I would describle them as defensive but not territorial. Good Luck!!

The swiss are nice but its a different league all together

This pair has been with me for over two years now. They are pretty much bulletproof. IMO, they are worth it. :)

best photo of candy bassets Ive seen anywhere. Thanks for sharing !!

Im fairly new to keeping a reef tank (3 months new) and the guy who helped me set up told me he had something cool for me. Turns out it was a candy basslet - the even better part is it was priced around USD 50. I've set up a 16 gallon Ocean Free aquarium and only planned for 2 or 3 fish maximum with the main focus on some softies and LPS. Here it is together with his only other tank mate after 2 weeks.

He is eating mysis and pellets. Sticks to the darker niches but will find him swimming about occasionally. Cool little guy and happy I picked him up because I was told they are quite rare to find for sale.

check the photo above yours. I think its great if you got a candy and paid for a swiss. It doesnt look like it though. Still looks great!!

Thanks guys for pointing out the difference. I can see it clearly. My basslet is getting more comfortable by the day. The goby dug him his own small nook......so that he stays away from the goby's main spot. Both living quite comfortably together.

Gotfrogs, you keep yours with a clown? How do they get along?

No issues at all. The clowns are offspring from a pair that I raised. Their size is a little stunted but other than that they are healthy. They were in the tank for over a year before I added Basslet. I was nervous that they would bother him when I first added him but they completely ignored him!

I keep my tank at 78 and he is doing great!
Sorry to bump this old thread but how has yours faired in the 13? I have a spare waterbox 10 cube and am looking for something unique and interesting. Would be the only fish

Mine is still doing great in the 13 gallon. It is always out and ready to eat! I set up a Red Sea XL 200 a few months back and plan on moving everybody over to the new larger tank.
