Today I picked up a candy cane coral and I dipped it with two little fishes revive and I most have brushed its flesh with the toothbrush on accident. It seems to have lost some of its tissue but after being in the tank an hr or so it puffed up some.

Does it look okay and will it recover?

I circled the missing flesh in purple here

These are a lot of fun to feed directly! They really respond to mysis shrimp!

Well I see the feeder tentacles out right now so not near as worried as I was earlier. Although I’m going to let it rest tonight and might try and feed it tomorrow night (either rods original blend or pellets) I’m picking up mysis this week sometime.

Keep feeding it every few days...that should help it to pull through the damage.

Think I should try some pellets tonight? They are TDO chroma boost pellets I got for my clownfish.
I think they would eat that without any problems. I typically only feed my corals mysis or other frozen foods, so I haven't tried anything else. If they don't like it, they'll spit it out.

Yup that didn’t work. I missed them and the pellets semi float so that won’t work I’ll try some rods frozen food tomorrow night instead.

I bought a tank used that someone had sitting baren for almost 3 months, found a “rock” I thought was a dead coral and threw it in. Fast forward a month and it’s a trumpet coral and regrew three heads.

corals can be super resilient. Let it sit and regrow. It’s what they do best.

I’ve had candy canes for years. My last ones got the size of a volleyball and I’ve never fed them. Hmmm I’ll have to try and see what happens.

I recommend you crush the TDO up a little bit, mix it with some tank water and target feed them. This is how some of our customers feed the larger sizes of TDO their corals. Worth a shot.

Thanks! Loving the food so far btw! My clowns devour it.

I’m holding off on feeding corals for the moment until I get my cuc this week. Beginning tank uglies are starting.
