Hi all,
I recently purchased a candy cane coral from my LFS. It’s been about 2 weeks and at times the coral is open, but I’d say that a majority of that time he’s kinda lopsided like the picture shows. Is this an indicator of too much flow? The rest of my corals seem happy

YES!! i started reefing about 3 years ago and in the beginning i lost a bunch of coral form to much flow. if you see the flesh pull form the skeleton like in your pic then you have way to much fow I know form experience.

Okay, thanks for your help!! I’ll be moving him now and hopefully it’s not too late for a recovery

Candy canes are pretty resilient. Move to a more medium flow make sure your parameters are good and more importantly stable and it should be fine.

Also is that a vermetid snail I see on the base of the skeleton
Sorry for the multiple reaper93 copy/pasted… still learning. Anyways, thanks for calling this out. I haven’t seen them in person so I guess it didn’t register as a possibility. I use a coral dip on all corals before adding, and maybe it died off? It’s never grown, etc. I pulled it off to be safe.
