Two of my Candy Cane polyps are acting funny for the last week. Deflated, and no feeding tentacles coming out at night like normal. I notice there is some stuff growing on the stocks. One is flat and jelly or puddy looking kind of whiteish clear. The other looks like a sponge? It has hole in it and more structure than the flat jelly.

the 5th photo shows how the two polyps are deflated with tank lights out (room light turned on for photo)

should I scrub these organisms off? Dip? It’s been a week now.

water parameters good

1.0255
8dkh
380 calcium
9.3 nitrates
0.14 phosphates
80.0 temp (ich fallow period)
1450 mag

Looks like sponges with one being a pineapple sponge. They should not prevent feeding tents at night unless that pineapple sponge is touching the flesh.

Does the stock take in co2 or anything? If it’s smothered by these jelly things can it be smothering it? Are stocks functionless or do they do something other than being a place for the flesh to grow on?

The skeleton is only a base and useless on the outside. Only part that matters is the head and flesh just below it.

The stock is just dead skeleton, the only living part is the part covered by tissue.

I’ll keep an eye on it. I turned the shrunken polyp more towards light because he was a little shaded and he looked better same day. I’ll keep an eye and let you guys know how it turns out. Thanks everyone!
