Candy cane coral split

This morning my candy cane was looking like it was splitting. About 10 minutes later I turned off all the flow and put some reef roids in (not directing feeding) and fed my fish. I’ve attached the before and after picture it went back to normal somehow I’m not sure why.

How do I bump it. But yeah for some reason it hasn’t grown at all. Same thing with my zoanthids. There supposed to be the easiest coral. But nothing has grown ever for me. My learners are doing perfect,gsp I’m fragging and it’s growing back. Brain and mushrooms including duncan are doing well.
