Candy cane coral

Hi ive just bought this coral but was wondering do i leave it on the plug or is it best to remove it? As u can see ive not glued it just held it in place until i know wots best. Ill upload pic thanks in advance.

I usually remove branching corals such as this from the plug but obviously thats just a personal preference.
Well its the 1st time ive ever bought coral as only been doin it about 9 months and bought tank 2nd hand with everything in so dont know wots best.
 
I leave mine on plug .
 
I'd remove it. It looks like the coral is attached to a piece of rubble and then glued to the plug, I'd separate the plug from ruble and glue that. I would how ever not remove it from its base. These candy canes have flesh going all the way down the branches so leaving that piece will give you something to hold on to while gluing it. These won't encrust over that plug so it will always be visable but if you don't mind you can just leave it.
