Well its the 1st time ive ever bought coral as only been doin it about 9 months and bought tank 2nd hand with everything in so dont know wots best.I usually remove branching corals such as this from the plug but obviously thats just a personal preference.
Thanks im doin a bit of tank re shapin on weekend so ill give it a go then+1 with @Jrain904 pop it off the plug and super glue directly to the rock. It'll look more natural without the plug.
Thanks for ur reply i think ill remove itI'd remove it. It looks like the coral is attached to a piece of rubble and then glued to the plug, I'd separate the plug from ruble and glue that. I would how ever not remove it from its base. These candy canes have flesh going all the way down the branches so leaving that piece will give you something to hold on to while gluing it. These won't encrust over that plug so it will always be visable but if you don't mind you can just leave it.
