Does anyone know if a Candy Cane Hog eats Berghia. My Candy Can Hog killed off my Perppermit shrimps (7 of them) that were put in to the tank to eat the Aipitasia. I had put 3 Berghia in to the tank late July and have never seen. I just wondered if the shrimp or the Candy Cane Hog got them. I am considering the option of getting rid of the hog, and trying with more Peppermint shrimps or keep him and try more Berghia.. any suggestions or experience would be gratefully received. Out of interest I found an Aptasia growing out of my 5" clams foot. I used NTLABS Marine Anti-Aptasia to kill the Aptasia and worried that I may have injured the claim.. he is open at the moment (just checked).

You could try a filefish or a copperband for using other fish. Just have to make sure that they wouldn’t only be eating aiptasia and could be weaned onto mysis or your choice of food

Had one of those. His first meal was aptasia so I thought great - however he soon joined in the feeding sessions and took his full of what was on offer and left the the Aptasia alone. He then found a liking for my Duncan and left it in a very sorry state until I could get a trap in and remove him back to the shop. I have tried RedSea Aptasia X lemon juice which is a lot cheaper also NTLABS Marine Anti-Aptasia which seems to work well on Aptasias That are near the front of the tank. I have tried peppermint shrimps (7 so far) and 3 Nudibranch Berghia - The Candy Cane had the Shrimps -100% sure, caught in the act. As for there Berghia could have been the 6 bar wrasse or one of the Hermit crabs we had (10) now 3 as we took 7 we caught back to the fish shop. By the way Bristle worms hate NT LABS Anti-Aptias and when they try to get away I have managed to get them with the long tweeters.. I hate them and I know the arguments for having them.

I had a aiptasia infestation of my own at one point. I had easily a couple dozen in my 125 gallon tank. Filefish, majono wand, nothing worked. I added berghias and within a week the aiptasia were all gone. The filefish is great for keeping them under control now.

The file fish I had was great to watch until he had the duncans. The local fish shop is getting g another one in the hope it likes the Aptasias and will leave the duncans alone. I do have a bamboo frame I made to put over the Duncans and stop larger flat fish from getting g a meal. So I will give it another go and report back in a month or so. I still feel I may introduce a few Berghia again and hope. Thanks for your views
