Candy cane looks like its melting away

Hi all.

Just noticed my candy cane does not look good at all. All my parameters are correct. Would too much light or not enough light be causing this. I have my lights on full for 8 hours a day and night light on for 2 hours a day. Could it be pests or my flame angel picking? It was about 3 inches away from a mushroom but I've moved it further away now.

Doesn't look all that bad. Flame angels are known coral pickers. Have you seen it picking at it?

What lights are you using?

Doesn't look too bad.. how long have you had it? has it been stable in that time?

The good news is candy canes can come back from anything but total death. I've had mine almost completely melt, but there was just enough flesh left by the time I saved it that it made a complete comeback.

In my case I believe the culprit was unstable nutrient input. I upped the feeding, made sure it wasn't getting blasted by the lights, and that seemed to do the trick. They enjoy being target fed also.

Thanks for your replies. It's under 2x juwel 16w t5 LED tubes both blue and a fluval sea marine 3.0 32w.

I've seen the flame angel picking at my stylopora but never anything else. Ive tried spot feeding cyclops and brine shrimp but it's never taken anything.

I have the aquarium on the redsea complete care. Foundation ABC, nopox, reef energy AB+ and Colours ABCD.
