I just buy this candy cane today and is showing the skeleton. Any advice in placement, light, water flow?

Leave it be for a bit. I know it'll be tempting to move it because you think you're helping it, but try to push that urge down because it will most likely make it worse. I've had candy canes where they fell off the rocks and sat face down on the sand for days only to come back beautifully. They seem to be pretty resilient.

So is good to keep it at low/medium light and low flow for now?

my new one opens up after dark. Have had since Sat. Doesn't open during day so far. I have it bottom of tank where I read they should be. Maybe what you got was already struggling, so some time, might help. Take a flashlight after lights out
and see. This is a few hours after lights out.

Same here, mine only have these 'tentacles' out at night, during the day , the green part became more fluffy but I don't see any tantacles. Like this:

I have never had much luck with candy cane/trumpet corals. I'm not sure if they came to me in already bad condition, or if they just didn't agree with my tank. I will try again someday. Good luck with that one!!

Mine was on the bottom, in the sand, but the conch snails would keep knocking it over. I moved it to a hole in one of the rocks and it has almost doubled in size since the move. It fluffs up during the day then the tentacles come out at nite.
