Don't understand what is going on with these candy canes. Some diminish and respond back while others completely disappear. Had an algae scrubber break down for 4-5 days while away and nitrates went to 38. Got that under control and only fall-out appears to be wasting candy cane polyps. Any ideas? Photos 1-3 show trouble areas whereas #4 shows recovery. Other polyps have wasted away to nothing.

I'm having a little of that in a couple spots.
IMO , check the flow.

My candy canes are doing the same exact thing. I fragged off a couple of heads and placed them into my second tank and they are fully recovering. Has to be a water quality issue. I'm facing High Nitrates 25ppm as well in the tank they are not doing well. My second tank is at 3ppm Nitrate and they recovered almost fully in 4 days. I'm actually sending in a water sample to Triton icp testing to see if any other elements beside Nitrates are out of wack. I'll report back with results.

Hi salty
I'v had the same thing happen to mine
When you say flow do you mean to much or not enough ?
Thanks
For me it was not enough.
They grew a bit plus a couple of others grew and the lower heads stared to look like those in the picture.
