Since I've had this candy cane I've kept an eye on it concerned that the heads look odd it looks like its pulling away from base leaving a large white exoskeleton. Granted its looked like that since I got it so not sure if that was a problem or my imagination. Over the last few days I'm noticing these white spots on the heads and base. I've also noticed my snail going nuts all over it eating I assume alge so not sure if it's a pest or signs of the snails. Any thoughts.

No gfo. Tank is four months old. Some of the specs move when I try to Turkey baster them off but woulnt come off. It's a stock jbj 28g nano still looking for a skimmer that fits in the back. Running carbon and filter floss pad.

I'll rerun testing tonight since I didn't run tests this Saturday as normal(been sick). Nothing has looked off except nitrate which has been 40-80 with api testing. I'll recheck tonight though I've been trying to get it lower with water changes.

I've got 2 acans on the same arch but not close enough I was concerned. I'll grab a pic.

Testing ran
Salinity 1.026
Ph 8.0
Amonia 0
Calcium 320ppm
Kh 214.8 (first time running this and it was the highest on list so assuming bad will have to look at what's normal and how to fix)
Nitrate 20ppm (water change Sunday 20 percent)
Phosphate .25 barely any color.

I've noticed most of the specks on the head I blew at have disappeared but same on the specks on stalk and retracted head.

Those strands are messentrial filaments used for defense and digestion. Somethings stressing it. Id retest that alk...cant be that high...

Retested dkh is 10 now or 179 ppmkh I either screwed that up or it dropped. Specs are all gone on head now so rereading polyps. I did a night check last night and didn't see anything but the heads aren't sending out feeder tendrils. They looked swollen over the top without the baby arms. Salt mix is premade at lfs but its instant ocean. I'm saving for rodi unit I can use for a larger tank in a few years so I can start mixing my own eventually

Just to add a conclusion to this. I changed out my light 2 days ago. I fragged out the healthy 3 head cluster and the coral fragged into 4 pieces. Since the light change though all pieces look noticeably better still receded but happier so time will tell how they do.
