Candy canes won’t open

I just got a 2 headed small candy cane 4 days ago. I have it on sand bed front middle of biocube 32 and it still hasn’t opened. Shoul i move it higher in tank? Or what can i do to get it to open?

Half the problem is location. They get quickly irritate if sand gets on them . Lower third to center best.

How old is the tank. I found they inflate alot in lower light.

I have one that looked great when I bought it but in three weeks, it keeps getting smaller. I moved to lower light and less flow to see how it will respond.
