Candy pencil wrasse

Hey saw this pencil wrasse ar the lfs, it looks great and is eating, however I k ow nothing about it, can anyone give thier opinions and experience s with pencil wrasse ? The guy at the store is willing to hold it for me for a day or 2 , any input will be appreciated.

Wonder if we were at the same LFS today!

I've not tried them; have heard of some people having long-term success, but others reported mysterious deaths after several months. Beautiful fish, though!

I've kept 4 royal pencil wrasses before but not the candy. From my experience, one died within 1 day, the other three lived together peacefully for a long time, almost 2 years. I think they do better as a group, as I noticed they played together frequently.

They are NOT prone to ich. They do sleep in the sand. Mine died over time due to carpet surfing.
