It's hard to tell from the picture. A pic without all the blues would help. How long has it been this way?

It's been 3 days now. I do still see the mouth. I will add a new pic when lights come on tomorrow.

Ok, a better picture and your water parameters with the numbers will be helpful. Also, have you tried a coral dip yet?

So my parameters are perfect. I am sure I caused this and I have learned from my mistake. However I have seen the mouth so I think I just need to give it time. Here is the pic from today.

It should live. Doesn't look good, but they are pretty hardy. I had a colony that I rescued that was really bad off that I fragged up and they came back.
You say that you are sure that you caused it, how did you cause it?
What are "perfect parameters" to you?

As others have said, we need your tank parameters. Also tank size, lighting and flow. Also how long has your tank be running?

The colonies I have started from two heads of Kryptonite candy cane. It was almost dead when I got it. In three years I've had to frag them and they are still splitting. So if your conditions are good and stable, they will grow fast.

Ok so I messed up and thought it was a good idea to fresh water dip it because it had green bubble algea on it. So my tank is only a little over a month old. 0 amonia, 0 nitrite, and 20 nitrate. I have not started testing other parameters and am doing weekly water changes. Now everyone can see a newbie mistake. Live and learn.

a fresh water dip is fine. Ph balanced its actually recommended by many. the tank could be just too new.
FWIW, my candy canes shrivel up any time I use gfo in the tank.

and yes "perfect is quite relative to species. the parameters are general. most don't notice parameters recommended are not zero.

thats a sweet tank.

It's okay. I've been reefing since 1993 and I still learn something new every once in a while.

Dipping corals in " revive" or similar coral dip is preferred.

My advice is to place the candy cane low or near the sand bed to start. This will allow it to adjust to your lights. They don't like strong flow, so somewhere it isn't blasted.

Alkalinity, calcium and magnesium is key to keeping LPS and SPS.

So regular testing of these will be necessarily.

I dont think a freshwater dip is a mistake. We all make them, even the ones that have been in the hobby for many years. We all learn something new every day. Buck up, give it some time and follow the advice given above. You'll do fine.
