Canister filter instead of sump

Can I use a canister filter in my 75 gallon fish tank instead of the sump it came with? I only have fresh water fish. Someone please help me.

So this is for a freshwater tank? If so yes if it’s for a saltwater tank they are more hassle then they are worth and the sump would be better.

Yes you can use canister....lots of people do it (including me). 3FX6's (filled with LR rubble) and a skimmer. 120G mixed reef. clean out every 6 months.

Freshwater, absolutely it's all I ever used. Salt water, absolutely but no way I would run one instead of a sump unless I did not have a sump.
