Hey!! would it be possible for me to temporarily scrap the sump on my Red Sea reefer 350 to a canister filter?, Help would be gladly appreciated!

It would only be momentarily Im gonna be away for 1 month and my son needs to take care of the tank I'm just asking it doing this would be possible, thank you.

Just have him top up the RO and run the nylon 200-micron filter socks.
We've been having major issues with the return pump and won't be able to fix these issues in time this is my last option I'm just wondering if it's possible I know it's not the best option but this is temporary. I just wanna know if possible or not.

I wouldn't recommend running a canister filter for a month with someone that has zero experience with it. So yes, but no, but no...

Thank you for your help, but the pump is currently not working to the point where we've had it completely stop working for hours on end making the sump flood I can't have my son fix it but we have a canister filter the right size from a freshwater tank and he knows how to use it and everything I'm leaving tomorrow morning and not gonna have time to buy a new pump this is last resort just asking if it could be used.

Oh The madness I have USED 2217 eheims for over 20 years on reef and FO tanks NEVER an issue!

Peter Wilkens one of the original Reef keepers ,I believe from Switzerland sadly now deceased also used Eheims on his tanks.

Heater, skimmer, reactors, dosing, probes, refugium, etc? Canister should be ok all else accounted for. Don’t blame the kid if things aren’t perfect when you get back, things happen and changes just before a vacay usually affect something. Other than that, have a great vacation and don’t stress over it while you’re away

@Indigo This is similar to the Tang Police, whenever you post about the Cannister Filters, The CF Police show up and knock at your front door at 3:00 AM....they just can't help themselves. You do you boo...and if it works, great for you. I'm on your side...and will testify in court for you as a CF Expert and key witness!!
