does anyone know of a website or person on this forum or anywhere that does filter repair jobs ? Specifically I have an eheim professionel 2228 canister filter. (Not sure what’s wrong with it. When I plugged it in last night after cleaning the impeller , it started making loud noises and not pumping any water either into the intake or output).

I’m in the west Chester pa area. Anyone know any sites or local stores that fix filters ?

Thanks,
Nick

I would open it back up and make sure you put everything back together correctly first before you move on to repairmen or new units

+ 1 and to check for broken parts, o rings properly placed, etc.

Sounds like something simple. Air, or broke ceramic shaft, or maybe even missing the ceramic end cap rubbers (if this one had them). I'd pull it apart again and check for anything in the impeller and make sure its seated right.

I’ll try that again! I tried it a few times last night and thought i put it back together exactly how I took it apart, but I don’t really know what I’m doing !

a good tip I found is taking pictures of whatever you take apart as you take it apart so you have a reference of what it should look like assembled

Lol. Every time I do this I screw it up putting it back together. Dyslexia sucks.

Hey everyone just an update. I turned it back on again after making the post and after about a minute of looking like it was struggling to get water out of the output tube it started working perfectly fine! Thank God because I didn’t feel like spending money on repairs or for a brand new filter ! It’s running smoothly and quietly now. It was just weird that when I went to turn it on at first it wasn’t working. Is it possible it had a air pocket in it somewhere ? Thanks everyone for the quick responses and tips !

Sounds like just a big air pocket. They do that sometimes when you open them up.

Glad you got it fixed!

Yes, it could have been a large air pocket. I know that some of the Eheim professional canisters (and some canisters in general) have a problem priming and the priming button is not always effective. I used to have an Eheim that I had to manually start the siphon. I am glad that you got it working and you may want to start troubleshooting at the siphon if it happens again. Good luck!
