Hi all
Im looking on upgrading my canister filter for my 40 gallon reef (cant use a sump with the stand i have for my tank)

The one at the moment is working fine but i want to upgrade it as im worried that when the corals grow and i add some more fish it wont be enough.

The one i currently have is a 1000L an hour pond solutions canister filter with a built in UV bulb.

Any recommendations?

Buy a second and place them in tandem. You'll have redundancy as a bonus.

As you consider adding or upgrading your canister filter, you may want to review your plan for how to manage power outages. When the power comes back on after a power outage the potentially anoxic water can be problematic for your fish and especially an sensitive coral. Best of luck with expanding your system!

I'm looking at pond canister filters too. I notice some with 3 way valve , to backwash it. Nice feature
