I was considering purchasing a canister filter to use as a media reactor and water mover. If I put calcium reactor media in it, can I also put other stuff like chemipure or purigen? Does anyone use multiple media in the same filter?

I use purigen, carbon and matrix in mine.

i run Fluval FX6. The only thing inside the canister is BRS rox 0.8 and matrix. No filter foams

I ran my carbon with a bunch of LR crumble when I first set up, that thing had a ton of pods when I used to replace the carbon but eventually tossed all the rocks in my sump and the carbon in a mesh in the sump as well,

I had Eheim canister filter btw it was given to me I figured give it some use

I was considering this for my ancient Marineland Magnum 350. It doesn't have trays but could easily take mesh bags.

Calcium reacto media won’t work.
It’s basically just crushed coral. The co2 on the CalRX melts it. Producing cal alk etc

But yes. You can mix the other chem media.
I used a larger mesh bag and laid them flat in the trays to get as much water through them as possible.

Agreed......calcium reactor media won’t do anything. It only works with a Calcium Reactor. I use my canister with carbon media and PhosGuard.

When my reactor is in use and I need to run some other type of media I will break out the canister filter to use. The last time I used it was to move water through a UV when I had Dinos.
