I use a canister filter all the time @nitro
Filled with ROX carbon and GFO to clean my sump and when phosphates aren't exactly where I want them. Just kidding about all the time. I use it once a week maybe for a couple hours. Usually before WC on Sunday. Works great!! Beautiful clean water and keeps PO4 in the range I like (0.08).
