I’ve got another question for everybody with canister filters. When I open mine up, water goes everywhere even when turned off. I Guess the suction is still going. How do you avoid this? Should I open it in a big bucket? Once my tank is cycled, I was told to add carbon, but I plan on using chemipure instead. I’m afraid to open this thing.

It’s gravity and hydrostatic pressure causing water flowing. I presume your canister filter is at the floor level.

shut off the in valve for a couple of seconds, and then shut off out and shut unit down. This should release some of pressure and water. Shouldn't flow out of canister as much then. I think yours has the lock feature (like the OG Rena's) versus shut off valves.

Thanks, buddy.
