I just got done with my cycle and have noticed that I have a lot of microbubbles in my aquarium that have not disappeared for days. THe are not sticking to the glass, there is just thousand of bubbles floating all around the tank.

40 Gallon Breeder
Fluval C3 HOB Filter
IceCap 2k Powerhead/Wavemaker *Running on Sine 40% min - 80% max
No protein skimmer or sump

I had put the carbon in my filter after I cycled which I know can cause some bubbles, but took it out after a few hours when I realized there were bubbles. This was also around the time I put in the IceCap 2k, so think either of those could be the culprit. I've had my carbon removed for about 3-4 days now and there are still tons of bubbles. Would too much surface agitation from the IceCap 2k cause microbubbles? The surface is agitated, but nothing that seems outrageous by any means.

Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

How close to surface are the icecap? If to close it can suck air. Especially when powers up in sine mode. You can just try lowering a little to see if that helps. You will still have agitation

Often with new tanks, bubbles will accumulate to all surfaces. Blow loose with a turkey baster

It's about 3/4 of the way up the tank. Photo attached.

Can you Post a picture ?
hob skimmers can cause bubbles .
along with if any wave makers are too close to the surface .

if there is a sump , how much water is over the return pump .
is water falling from the previous chamber directly over the return pump .

What I’m trying to say is there can be so many things that contribute to bubbles in the dt

Answering for OP since most of his answers are in his original post. Lol. No sump no skimmer! Sorry couldn’t resist.

Hmm that looks pretty good. Maybe just to eliminate that can try to lower just a tad. If still there there than another reason.

By the way a pump can still generate micro bubbles without sucking air. If you turn it off will it go away in a couple hours? Then you know. Or try lowering intensity
