My sister gave me her canon to use to take pics of my aquarium.

Never held or used an advanced camera before.

Been attempting to read and find information but it just seems to all be bs people trying to market one thing or another.

Can someone help me!?!

I have 3 different lenses

@jporter17

Gonna yah some folks that may be able to help. If not no worries
Not sure what the above means.
I use a 100mm macro lens when taking photos of it. I don't see that lens in your picture, so not sure I'll be able to help other than use a tripod, and make sure all water movement is off with clean glass. Make sure to focus straight through the glass otherwise you'll see some distortion. JP

I have been reading and it says i need a reference card to set white balance?!?

Most cameras have several pre-set white balance settings (like Sunlight, Shade, Cloudy, Fluorescent, etc.), or the option to select a specific Kelvin color temperature, or to use a Reference card where you actually shoot a photo of that gray or white card and then the camera adjusts to that image. On my Nikon, I just choose the Kelvin option and then select the highest Kelvin value (10,000) that the camera can use. I'm sure Canon has a similar option without needing a reference card.

I shoot most of the time by Top Down and using this:

Try what you have first with tripod if you shoot thru the glass. Don't buy another lenses and let try your lenses first. On Canon 60D like other said using preset WB functions, try them all and also go to Canon Website download DDP software (I think is free). That software is very good for editing the WB. Hope it help.

This is with a stock lens. Shot through glass. I plan on upgrading. I built my own port hole for about 12 bucks. Top downs are so much better
