I've had my 40 breeder running for about a week, had to set it up in a hurry so I am currently using the canopy form my 60 cube on it. :snicker:
Well finally have some time to build the canopy for it and wanted to know what I would need, and how I would go about building it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Are you going to enclose it? One of the nice advantages of the 40B IMO is that it makes a spectacular top-down tank. If you can manage it I would simply hang your light from the ceiling and call it good. JMO of course.

If you're going to enclose, I would think that you would want to use a 5/8" plywood and you're going to want to seal it really well.

I'd say it will depend on the style that you choose. I've built a couple and they were made differently because they had to be to accommodate style. Post a pic of the style of canopy you want that way you can get more specific answers on how best to go about it.

Thinking I want it something lik this

Looks like it would almost be as tall as the tank itself ;). What is your light set-up MH or t5s?

Well not as tall but style wise like this, my set up is gonna be t5s. I like the way it opens up with the front panel of the canopy making it easier to get to the tank
