I have a canopy over my 120g and right now I have MH lights but I'm upgrading, as soon as it's delivered, to a kessil. Will I need to keep the fan once I install the new light or can I get rid of it?

yea the fan is probably done.:) keep an eye on the tank temp o course.

While im here. you might want to look into par and lux meters to acclimate. the par coming out of an led is pretty amazing.
Im gonna miss my arc lamps too.:(

IMO u probably won't need the fan. I don't use one on my 300 g canopy with led's and the temp is fine. Just check the temp often after u get the new lights in.

Any recommendations on decent and affordable ones?

The par meter your stuck at $300
The Lux meter low cost is $15 from amazon(fine) The millwalkee (near best) is $75 I believe.

You may want to keep one going to keep the moisture out of your hood. JAO

I was wondering about that. I also thought about co2 exchange. Would it be beneficial to keep air flow so co2 wont build up inside the canopy?

No CO2, just thinking about moisture that can build up. Not absolutely necessary but if you have it in place, it wouldn't hurt.

I like to keep two big fans in my canopy one pulling air out and one pushing air in. I have found it aids in keeping stable ph while the tank is doing its surface gas exchange from the waves. Nothing wrong with having some flow within a closed canopy i would say keep them. you could alway put them on an apex controller if the heat ever got to high they would kick on and help stabilize the temperature.
