CAN'T AFFORD TO FEED Harlequin Shrimp.

So I have a Mated Pair of Harlequin Shrimp .They've been in my DT for 6 months now .So last night I see the female doing the "where the hell is my food" dance ..in the front and center of the DT .So I make it a point of going to my local LFS to purchase a Sand Sifting star ,10 bucks like always.Once a week .So Today at work an I start throwing numbers into the calculator .6 months equal 26 weeks ...10 dollar a week ...equal 260 bucks ! They are MAJESTIC but I really can't justify spending so much on feeding ! I have tried multiple types and they go through them super fast .I had Asterina Starfish which was my main reason of getting them and they are gone extinct in my DT.

Bottom line ...Been trying to come up with a script on how to tell my 8 year old daughter that they got to go .Thinking on telling her that the city aquarium wants them lol .....

I know how you feel, just gave up my spider sponge because of the upkeep. I would tell her that where they’re going will be a place where they can be better taken care of (assuming it’s your LFS) or something[emoji23]

My lfs freeze their starfish when they die then feed pieces to the harlequin. Maybe a shop near you do the same, if so you could probably buy some cheap.
Good luck, i hope your daughter take it well once/if they're gone.
I have one presently to deal with asterina, we'll see how it turn out long term.

The first pic was the morning after the addition of the harlequin, over 30 asterina in the glass, they must have know something was going for them... run for your life!
