I just set up my ap700 and for the life of me I cannot get it connected to app. I've tried everything I can think of. The only thing I haven't done was try to update the firmware. I really don't want to do that since my computer is ways away from the ap700, that is mounted in the A-mounts.

A few things I have found:
1 - It doesn't have me create a password for the unit like in some of the videos I've seen. It has me go straight to wifi.
2-I have, what appears, to successfully pair it. But when the I'm at the 'home' screen, there is no lamp to select.

I've heard that Kessil has great customer service, but this is not really a great first impression. It's late in the evening and I have to work tomorrow until 4. I'm assuming that I should just turn on the lamp when I leave? Since I'm coming from 2x a160s, I'm going to leave it on the lowest setting. Should I keep it all blue or add some whites in there for the day?

Thoughts?

When you did the setup, did you connect the light to wifi via direct connect or through wireless router?

Ok. So you're at home and your phone or tablet is connected to your homes wifi when trying to control your light right?

I did a direct connect and was successful this morning. If that is what is needed to be done to use it, then that's what I'll do. I was under the impression that direct connect was a wired connection, NOT just the lamp only.

Another question, my a160s were at 65%. What is a good percentage to start out with? I have them set to 15% today, but want something a little more concrete when I go home and play with it.

15 is a good number to start with. This light is much more powerful than the 160's :) I'd start at 15 and slowly ramp it up by 5% a week and see how your corals respond :)

At what level do you think I should end up at with a mix of LPS (frogspawn, torch, acans) and SPS (birdsnest & monti)?

Depended on how far off the water you have it mounted, anywhere in the 30 to 50% range.
